Meet our

Veterinarians

Dr. Shelagh Hislop

Dr. Shelagh Hislop has been a part of Bellevue since 1992 after her Biochemistry degree at the U. of Calgary, then veterinary degree, with distinction, from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. Her love for animals, people, and science are what called her to veterinary medicine as a career. Her special interest areas are dentistry and soft tissue surgery, and she loves opportunities to learn about new treatments and techniques. Shelagh has an everchanging array of 4-legged family members, and keeps trying to teach herself piano. Also, she runs (slowly), reads, and tries to grow food.

Dr. Jeff Dahl

Dr. Jeff Dahl started working with us in May 2000 immediately after his graduation from Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Jeff originates from the Victoria area and was glad to return to the Island from his veterinary training in Saskatoon where he obtained extra experience while working 2 summers in the department of radiology. We're sure he was born with veterinary medicine in his genes because both of his parents were veterinarians too! Jeff works full time in the clinic while he and his wife, Denise, are raising two young boys, 2 cats (Margaret and Maisy), and Lily the Labrador.

Dr. Lesage
Dr. Natacha Lesage

Dr. Natacha Lesage started her work with us in March 2006. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2002. Prior to her work here, she had practiced veterinary medicine in Oregon and also in England, as she and her husband traveled in Europe. Dr. Lesage has a very gentle nature and thus has a calming influence on our four-legged patients and their owners. Natacha is in the clinic 3 days/week, while she and her husband, David, are raising two boys, and their canine child, Rocky.

Dr. Bradbury
Dr. Christine Bradbury

Dr. Christine Bradbury joined the Bellevue team in February 2017. Originally from the Comox Valley, she completed an undergraduate degree in Zoology at UBC prior to earning her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College. Just prior to Bellevue, Christine was working at an emergency hospital in Vancouver, but was excited to come back to the Island to spend more quality time with her husband and 3 boys. Christine's veterinary special interests include diagnostic medicine, soft tissue surgery and critical care. In her spare time, Christine loves the outdoors, camping, kayaking, and painting.

Dr. Jessica Paravicini

Dr. Jessica Paravicini has been working with us since 2020.  She grew up in Qualicum Beach and attended Vancouver Island University where she completed a degree in Biology. She then moved to Saskatoon to attend the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with great distinction. She returned to Vancouver Island to practice at a small animal hospital in Port Alberni before coming to our team at Bellevue. Dr. Paravicini is a compassionate person who strives to provide high quality medicine to her patients. Her interests include preventative medicine and dentistry. When not at work she spends time with her husband, her 2 young children, her dog and horse. If there is any spare time, she enjoys gardening, reading and horseback riding.

Meet our

Care Team

Krisie

Krisie is from Alberta and is one of our vet assistants, who also helps at the reception desk as well. She joined our team in 2023.  She loves all animals, especially dogs, and is a fur momma to a staffy named “ Boss”, and a border heeler named “Woodzy”.  In her spare time  she enjoys adventuring around this amazing island, that she is happy to now call home.

Gwyneth

Gwyneth, a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT), graduated from the Animal Health Technology course at Thompson Rivers University in 1995. She spent most of the following 20 years working with marine mammals and exotics as a technologist and trainer. Many of those years were at the Vancouver Aquarium, but also included 3 years at a facility (Fjord & Baelt Centre) in a small town in Denmark. Gwyneth met her husband, a Research Biologist, while working at the Aquarium. They married in 2007 and were thrilled to welcome sons over the following years. Gwyneth joined the Bellevue team in July 2015 and we are thrilled she is working with us, and small animals again!

Alexandra

Alexandra joined our reception team in November 2019. She now assists everywhere in the clinic! She has always been very fond of animals and has future plans to further her skills and abilities in this field. She currently shares her home with two large mixed breed Labradors and two domestic short haired
cats. Alexandra spends most of her free time outdoors adventuring Vancouver Island by either
hiking or 4×4. She enjoys the beautiful place we live and plans to see as much as she can.

Julz
Julz grew up in Manitoba but has lived on the Island for 5 years now.
She has recently graduated from TRU to be a Medical Laboratory Assistant, and is currently enrolled in Penn Fosters Veterinary Technician program. She’s been working in Veterinary Medicine for 4 years as an assistant.
When not working or studying, she loves biking, surfing, snowboarding, or paddle boarding with her dog Brodie and fiancé Kyle. Last year she adopted a senior cat named Walter. We live a cozy life in Parksville!
Meet our

Receptionists & Administration

Honey
As of July 2019, Honey is our office manager. Her extensive experience includes 18 years working in mixed & equine practices. She has worked in management, reception, and assisting with patient care, and is a great help in all of those roles. She joined the Bellevue team in 2017, after moving here with her husband, sons, Great Danes and Persian cats. Living in Qualicum Beach has allowed her to enjoy kayaking, hiking & biking.
Maureen
Maureen has been a receptionist at Bellevue for over twenty-five years and has seen a lot of changes. She enjoys working with animals and understands how much having a pet can make a difference in the owner’s life. Maureen shares her home with her cat Starsky and new puppy Pippa. One of Maureen’s pleasures is spending time with her grandchildren, and as time allows, she loves to sew and knit for charity. Maureen is a very thoughtful and caring person who goes out of her way to make others feel good. She is a wonderful asset to our veterinary hospital because of her natural desire to help everyone and her great sense of compassion.
Genevieve
Genevieve arrived on our reception team in 2004 with a background in customer service and a love of all creatures. She lives on a beautiful farm in Qualicum Beach with her family and a host of fantastic farm animals including sheep, chickens and horses. Gen loves spending time outdoors; riding horses, canoeing, or hiking with her crazy dog, Tucker. She is also a six-time novelist who writes horse-themed YA novels that appeal to readers of all ages.
Jennifer
Jennifer has worked with us in reception since Spring 2006. Since then she has been a dependable and friendly part of our reception desk. Part of Jen’s story took a sharp turn a couple of years after she started working with us. She has always been a keen equestrian and very involved with horses throughout her life, but unfortunately, was tragically injured after being thrown from a horse in May 2008. She sustained significant spinal cord damage and was away from work for a year. It has been a challenge for her to resume her life (and come back to work) in a wheelchair, but she has been an amazing fighter and continues to be a valuable member of our team.
Patty
Patty
Patty joined the Bellevue team in the fall of 2007. You can see her smiling face in reception every other weekend and 2 days through the week. Patty brings her calm, quiet influence and warm maternal tendency to all those she assists and works with. Patty is also very busy at home with her husband, two young children, three budgies, two poodles, and two ferrets.
Pat
Pat started at our reception desk in the fall of 2009, after moving from Ontario, to be closer to her family. In Ontario, Pat worked as a secretary at Fessenden, a primary school in Ancaster. She shares her home with her dog and 4 cats. She is friendly, efficient and compassionate…..she also has the best laugh going. When not at work, Pat spends a lot of time with her 2 beautiful grandchildren.
Delilah
Delilah

her home with two cats and one dog, and is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Criminology with future career goals in law enforcement. When not at work, Delilah can be found riding horses in reining, ranch riding,
and cattle sorting disciplines as well as reading, studying, and hiking local island mountains and trails with her sheltie Maisie.
